In this study we aim to study the relationship between economic growth and environmental sustainability in Thailand with observations of variables extending a decade between 2000-2010 in this study we’ll look into the long run relationship between economic growth and environment. In the literature the question of how economic activities effect environment have been studied from many angles, but the results are different simply due to scholar’s diverse measures of impact on nature. The main contribution of this study adding to the comparison between pollution measures and eco-efficiency measures, The study has revealed that while GDP per capita have positive relationship with improving water quality availability and biodiversity in terms of national reserved areas, it also has positive relationship with forest depilation which stands for Product of net resource rents, and excess of round wood harvest over natural growth Keywords: Economic growth, Environmental sustainability, EKC curve in Thailand DOI: 10.7176/JESD/10-16-05 Publication date: August 31st 201

Identity and Access Management System: a Web-Based Approach for an Enterprise

    Get PDF
Managing digital identities and access control for enterprise users and applications remains one of the greatest challenges facing computing today. An attempt to address this issue led to the proposed security paradigm called Identity and Access Management (IAM) service based on IAM standards. Current approaches such as Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), Central Authentication Service (CAS) and Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) lack comprehensive analysis from conception to physical implementation to incorporate these solutions thereby resulting in impractical and fractured solutions. In this paper, we have implemented Identity and Access Management System (IAMSys) using the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) which focuses on authentication, authorization, administration of identities and audit reporting. Its primary concern is verification of the identity of the entity and granting correct level of access for resources which are protected in either the cloud environment or on-premise systems. A phased approach methodology was used in the research where it requires any enterprise or organization willing to adopt this must carry out a careful planning and demonstrated a good understanding of the technologies involved. The results of the experimental evaluation indicated that the average rating score is 72.0 % for the participants involved in this study. This implies that the idea of IAMSys is a way to mitigating security challenges associated with authentication, authorization, data protection and accountability if properly deployed

An Implementation of Nested Pattern Matching in Interaction Nets

Reduction rules in interaction nets are constrained to pattern match exactly one argument at a time. Consequently, a programmer has to introduce auxiliary rules to perform more sophisticated matches. In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of a system for interaction nets which allows nested pattern matching on interaction rules. We achieve a system that provides convenient ways to express interaction net programs without defining auxiliary rules

Nigeria has had state involvement in economic activities for a very long time. The intervention was meant foreconomic development and progress hence lot of SOEs has been established. The SOEs developed problemswhich lead to the adoption of privatization policy. Many studies on performance evaluation of privatizedenterprises are inconsistent. The paper used before and after research design with descriptive statistics and paneldata of AIICO Nig. Plc. The performance result is generally significant.Key words: Public enterprise, Ratios, Performance, AIICO Nig. plc

The practice and challenges of e-Government in Nigeria in the 21st century

This paper investigates the state of the present condition of e-government commitment in Nigeria. It also, examines the difficulties encountered in the implementation process.Layne and Lee (2001) “Stages of growth theory” was adopted to explain the position of Nigeria in the implementation and the challenges it faced on e-government.To do this, this paper used secondary data as a source to collect different articles and report. This paper finds that while e-government is present in Nigeria, it is still in its initial stage. Not only have that, the environment lacked many prerequisites for the survival and continued maintenance of e-governance due to many factors such as inadequate electricity, technical expertise etcetera. It is therefore suggested that both the government and the stakeholders should take it up as a challenge to find quick and lasting solutions to them. There must also be political will and government should have its administrative staff retrained in IT to properly manage the facilities and infrastructure necessary for e-government

The study seeks to examine the relationship between intrinsic factors and job satisfaction among the lecturers of Bauchi State University Gadau (BASUG), Nigeria. This Study uses intrinsic factors as independent variables, whereas job satisfaction as a dependent variable is based on the theoretical framework of „two factor theory‟ of Fredrick Herzberg (1959).The study employs close-ended questions adapted and adopted from the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) and interviews were also conducted to compliment the result of the survey questions in measuring the relationship between intrinsic factors and job satisfaction among 148 academic staff of BASUG that had participated in the study. Accordingly, descriptive statistic was used in testing the data collected. The findings reveal that there is a positive and significant relationship between intrinsic factors and job satisfaction where, specifically, „responsibility‟, „work itself‟ are positively related to job satisfaction and interview responses found that staff training and library needs to be upgraded and improved in order to increase the level of job satisfaction of lecturers of Bauchi State University Gadau, Nigeria

    T. globiferus growing on Tamarindus indica is a hemi-parasitic plant used in ethomomedicine to treat different ailment including fungal infections. The aim of the study was to conduct phytochemical and antifungal studies of T. globiferus growing on Tamarindus indica. The plant material was collected, identified and air dried. Powdered plant material was subjected to maceration using methanol to obtained crude methanol leaf extract which was partitioned using n-hexane, chloroform ethyl acetate and n- The extract and the fractions obtained were subjected to phytochemical evaluation sing standard protocols. The antifungal studies of the methanol extract and its fractions against Aspergillus fumugatus, Aspergillus niger, Trychophytom rubrum and Trychophyton mentagrophyte were investigated using agar well diffusion method at different concentration (100 - 1.25 mg/mL). The phytochemical screening revealed the presence of various secondary metabolites which varies in the extract and fractions. The methanol  extract and its fractions showed significant (p< 0.05) antifungal activity against all the fungal isolates with the ethyl acetate fraction having the highest zone of inhibition ranging from 10-39 mm then followed by the n-butanol fraction with the mean zone of inhibitions from 10-28 mm. The methanol extract and the n-hexane fraction recorded lower zone of inhibition from 9-24 mm and 8-26 mm respectively. The standard drug ketoconazole had zone of inhibition from 6-22 mm. The most sensitive organism was A. niger while the least sensitive organisms were T. mentagraphyte and A. rubrum for the ethyl acetate fraction. The study has validated the ethnomedicinal claim for the use of this plant in treatment of the fungal infections. Keywords: Phytochemical; Tapinanthus globiferus; Tamarindus indic

Influence of Cost against Area Coverage as Mediating Parameters in Choice of Paint Products

    Get PDF
In choosing paint, several factors come into play some of which are economic or sociocultural extraneous factors other than technical details. The choice of colour is mostly determined at the design stage while the quality and performance are dictated by the buildingtype, economic forces and budget. The economic forces and limited options restrict the client's and the architect's ability to settle on the best option for the building type. While many of them see cost as a hindrance to getting better-quality paint, little is known of the ratio of the cost to area coverage. Using Primary and secondary qualitative inquiry strategy, this study seeks to unearth the underlying relationship between the cost of paint products and their corresponding area coverage to help the Architect and Client in making an informed decision with little or no consideration for cost implication. Kano city was used as a case study where paint manufacturers with paint depots in Kano are considered. Out of these companies, four produces and sell special paint products in addition to the conventional paint products while five companies produce conventional paints only. It was also found that some companies produce different varieties of particular paint product. Expectedly, different prices were found for each of the products. The analysis indicates that the price of a paint product does not suggest its economic advantage or otherwise. The costlier paint products were found to havewider area coverage compared to the cheaper products. Therefore, the cost of paint should be used technically when considered as a parameter in specifying paint and determining its budget. Keywords: Choice of paint, Cost, Area coverage, Influenc
